Professional Contributions

  • Since 1977, have been actively involved in the Indian Electrical & Electronics Industry in multiple supporting roles like Technology Consultancy, Research & Design Development, Innovation Incubation, Design Mentoring, and Industry Oriented Research.
  • By virtue of setting up the Pioneer “Independent Design House” since 1981 in India, have acquired the unique insight into the issues of the Indian Electronics & ICT Innovation Ecosystem.
  • Have been supporting the Indian Industry by designing the latest, most innovative, rugged, reliable products, systems and solutions for last Three Decades in the fields of: Convergence, Smart Home, Smart Metering, Smart Lighting, Smart Buildings, M2M/IoT, Energy efficiency, Renewable energies and Bio-medical.
  • Active involvement and contributions in industry associations, bodies and committees: IEEMA, AEEE, ISGF, IESA, LEDMA, CMAI, TSDSI, BIS, CII, FICCI, PHDCC etc. etc.
  • Enjoy strong personal and professional rapport with senior functionaries in DeitY, DoT, MoP, CPRI, MNRE, BEE, EESL, SECI, DST, DSIR, TIFAC, BIS, C-DoT and TEC etc.…
  • Major contribution in defining the technological trends and STANDARDS in the field of Smart Metering, Smart Grid, Smart Lighting, Smart Cities, Solar Inverters, LVDC, Renewable Integration and Energy Efficiency. Active contributions in Global SDOs like IEEE, IEC, ISO, ITU, (and of course the BIS) etc. 
  • Designed the curriculum and taught a course on “Design Paradigm”: “Smart Electronic Systems Design Paradigm – ECE574” in IIIT Delhi.
  • Trained, Groomed & Mentored above 200 Researchers & Design Engineers in the field of Electronics & ICT.
  • Recently initiated a mentoring program to provide mentorship to Startups thru Venture Investor Organizations to contribute in the National Campaign: “MAKE in INDIA”.
  • Have been contributing with Indian perspective in IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) in:
    • SEG 1: Systems Evaluation Group – Smart Cities
    • SEG 3: System Evaluation Group - Ambient Assisted Living
    • SEG 4: Systems Evaluation Group -Low Voltage Direct Current Applications, Distribution and Safety for use in Developed and Developing Economies
    • SEG 6: Systems Evaluation Group – Non-traditional Distribution Networks/ Micro-grids.
    • SEG 7: System Evaluation Group – Smart Manufacturing.
    • SEG 8: Communication Technologies & Architectures of Electrotechnical Systems.
    • SEG 9: Smart Home/Office Building Systems.
  • Representing Indian National Committee in IEC- SyC Smart Energy, SyC Active Assisted Living, SyC Smart Cities & SyC LVDC.
    • Convener of Reference Architecture Work Group in IEC Systems Committee on Smart Cities.
    • Liaison between IEC SyC Smart Cities & IEEE Smart Cities Initiative Working Group
  • Representing India in ISO - TC 268 on Sustainable Development in Communities
  • Representing India in ISO/IEC JTC1 WG7 on Sensor Networks, ISO/IEC JTC1 WG9 – Big Data, ISO/IEC JTC1 WG10 – Internet of Things (recently converged into ISO/IEC JTC1 SC41) & ISO/IEC JTC1 WG11 – Smart Cities.
  • Co-editor in ISO 30145 – Smart City ICT Framework & ISO 30146 – Smart City ICT Indicators.
  • Contributing with Indian perspective in ITU-T SG20 - Internet of Things (IoT) and its applications including smart cities and communities (SC&C).
  • Contributing with Indian perspective in IEEE Smart Cities & Internet of Things Steering Committees.
  • Convener of Panel on “Smart Infrastructure” to focus on Development of Standards, as well as Harmonization of Standards for “Unified & Secure ICT Backbone for an Integrated Smart Infrastructure Paradigm” under LITD Council in BIS.
  • Active Contributor in Panel on Low Voltage Direct Current under ETD Council. Co-Editor of LVDC Standard – “GUIDELINES FOR 48V ELVDC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM”
  • Contributing pro-actively in Indian Standardization Ecosystem by virtue of being Member of various BIS Sectional Committees:
    • CED59: Sectional Committee on Smart Cities-
      • Co-convener of Work Group 1 on Terminology and Integrated Approach.
      • Co-author of Smart City Indicators on Physical Infrastructure in Work Group 3.
